I am NOT forwarding this news because this is a "Killer" to "Saint" story, but to highlight the power of a spiritual moment started by Vinoba Bhave. It is amazing to see how powerful spirituality can be in changing a person.
Think before you act! Once an act is performed, the seed is sown, the seed must germinate in the future.
"Don't let circumstances take charge of your life. Be the master of your own thoughts and anxieties to lead a peaceful life." says the Ex-Dacoit...
In my view, even though he is a changed person today, he WILL face consequences of his past Karma. There is no escape. Every seed of Karma must be consumed or must be burnt, there is not third option.
Possibly this story is the practical answer to the social evils of 21st century? Connecticut Massacre, Delhi Rape and Global Peace

Transformed Chambal dacoit preaches karma at Kumbh Mela
Accused of committing a number heinous crimes such as murders and rapes, 20-year-old Jagdeesh had unleashed his terror in the ravines of Chambal for almost a decade.
However, life and destiny had something else in store for him, and the once dreaded dacoit embarked himself on a mission to transform himself and others in years to come. What changed him was the "Chambal Ghati Shanti Mission" a campaign started by Vinoba Bhave
After 15 years, in Allahabad to participate in the Maha Kumbh, he shares his story with pleasure to inspire others. After analyzing his past, Jagdeeshanand concluded that life is a strange complex of circumstances.
"The way we respond to circumstances decides our life. I was provoked by the situation in my life to lift a rifle in my hand and kill people. Had I maintained my calm at that time, I wouldn't have been wandering in the ravines," he said adding, "Don't let circumstances take charge of your life. Be the master of your own thoughts and anxieties to lead a peaceful life."
But how does one master his mind? Responding to this he said, "Keep your needs under control. Be least dependent on anything or anybody." The seer said that he practices what he preaches.
