I am 20 year old student...coming from a good spiritual Bramhin family where we do regular Pooja of Swami Samarth and I also once done Saptaha of Shri Gurucharitra. When I was in 12 I got Shaktipat Deeksha from PP. Narayan Kaka Dhekane Maharaj. For about one year I did my Sadhana regularly but that year end I failed in exam I left my Sadhana and got addicted to bad habits like smoking etc . and started taking take non-vegetarian food also for the first time in life...but now am missing my old days and want them back, Will Shaktipat meditation help me? My problem is that while mediating lots of bad thought and questions comes in my mind I personally feel guilty. How can I overcome all my bad habits. Please help me.

The good part of your story is that now you are feeling to come back to your old ways of life away from bad habits. This is the start that will help you get back on track of spirituality. At the same time you should be aware that it is not going to be easy path. It is like you walked in wrong direction for 8 years now to come back to same spot you have to walk the same distance in the right direction. It will not take you 8 years but will certainly be several months or few years depending on your resolve and seriousness of approach. If you can keep you mind strong and stay focused on the Sadhana you will win.
You mentioned: “My problem is that while mediating lots of bad thought and questions comes in my mind I personally feel guilty”
Don’t worry at all. This is exactly what I mean by walk in the right direction. Bad thoughts are going to come back and haunt you. What is happening is you are trying to get away from bad habits, but your mind is still longing for all those bad things, habits attractions etc. It is all natural and there is nothing wrong about it. What you should do is fully understand the nature of your mind. Be aware that your mind is going to revolt, oppose and throw tantrums at you when you walk in the right path (meditation and Sadhana.)
Important part you have to do is – Do not try to fight bad thoughts when they come. Let them dance the way they want to, just be an observer. You job is not to add to them nor oppose them, but continue to take Naam (of Shri Dattatreya or Ganesha or Om NamaShivaya.) The moment you will try to fight them they will fight back at you and may be they will strengthen.
So try to be an observer while you do Sadhana. Let the thought come by and pass away. When you don’t react and continue to take Naam Mantra there will soon be a day where the bad thoughts will start dying off. This is the best approach you can take to win them over, not by fighting but letting them die. To win this battle you need to remove the feeling of guilt from your mind and continue with the way I mentioned above. Read spiritual books and if possible do some Seva at nearby Swami Samarth Math. Initially you will feel helpless but the Kundalini and the grace of the Guru will provide all the strength required to win the battle. Removing obstacles is the primary job of Guru. His grace will provide you the strength required to win and get back on the divine path.
Hope this helps.
Thank you. Mahendra Joshi
